The Rose of Versailles is a historical drama manga series written and illustrated by Riyoko Ikeda. It was serialized in the manga magazine Margaret from 1972 to 1973, with a revival from 2013 to 2018. The story is set in the years preceding and during the French Revolution and follows the lives of two women: Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France, and Oscar François de Jarjayes, commander of the Royal Guard. The series uses a combination of historical figures and original characters.
