Air Gear is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Oh! great. It revolves around the life of Itsuki Minami 'Ikki or Crow' and his friends who use Air Gear, an in-universe invention derived from inline skates. The story follows their roles as Storm Riders and their quest to reach the top of the Trophaeum Tower. Air Gear was adapted into an anime series and an original video animation (OVA). It had over 18 million copies in circulation and won the Kodansha Manga Award in 2006. The manga and anime have gained popularity worldwide.
